Engaging with the Public
In an Era of change where modern societies are gradually moving from Information to knowledge base
societies, RASIT is working to enhance the social capital of Arab communities. RASIT’s Program "The
Science Cafe" is creating the biggest platform in Arabic history where scientists, educators, public, and
the new generation will interact in a knowledge driven environment.
Science Cafe Seminars:
RASIT and through its program “Science Café” is dedicated to promoting excellence in science in Arab
States. We believe that science is a vital part of Arabic societies and culture that cannot flourish without
the support of the wider community.
Through the "Science Cafe" monthly seminars, we are committed to involving the public in learning
about and debating science, and equipping scientists with the skills and opportunities to communicate
their science more widely with a variety of audiences, whether it be students and scientists from other
disciplines, or the media and mass public.
Each month, the Science Café will give individuals seats to listen to people who play an important part in
developing and improving our lives, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight. Individuals can just
"listen in" or, if the mood strikes, join in the conversation by offering comments or suggesting topics.
Science Cafe Magazine
Science Café Magazine will create a new horizons for the Science mediatization process that
UNESCO Introduced in its World Report of 2005.
Through the Science Café magazine, as a professional science media platform, RASIT is creating
different opportunities for scientists to help build the knowledge society.
The magazine will be published in Arabic 6 times a year starting from November 2008, and it will
be available for scientists, professionals, artists, philosophers, journalists, students, companies,
institutions, and simply everyone to publish their articles. The magazine will outline the Café’s
activities, information on discoveries, and to raise the importance of science in developing
cultural, social, ethical, legal, educational, personal, medical topics.
